If the years 2020 and 2021 have taught us anything, it’s that nurses are invaluable and the true unsung heroes of the American workforce. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses have demonstrated incredible strength and resolve, showing up for work each day no matter the risks and looking after patients under unprecedented circumstances.
During the early days of the pandemic, when hospitals were overwhelmed, these brave workers put their lives on the line each day to make sure that others were well taken care of.
As May begins, there could be no better occasion to celebrate the contributions of nurses around the country than National Nurses Day, which is a part of National Nurses Week. National Nurses Week begins on May 6, which is also National Nurses Day, and continues through May 12, ending on Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
Florence Nightingale, also known as “The Lady With the Lamp,” was a famous British nurse, who rose to prominence in the mid-1800s, during the Crimean War. Nightingale is known for her efforts to create social reform in health care and nursing.
Meet Amy Fair, Registered Nurse and Director of Medical Relations at Simmons Hanly Conroy
Sponsored by the American Nurses Association (ANA), National Nurses Week aims to celebrate and honor nurses around the country and to lift up the women and men who serve in the profession. This year marks the 201st year of celebrating National Nurses Week.
At Simmons Hanly Conroy, we would like to take a moment to recognize and thank our registered nurse Amy Fair, who has served as director of medical relations at the firm for 20 years.
Amy plays a critical role for our mesothelioma clients, ensuring those impacted by the disease get the help they need and deserve. As a medical liaison, Amy provides crucial health care information and discusses treatment options with patients.
