Securing Results for Families Impacted by Mesothelioma

Throughout his career, Juan has recovered significant compensation for mesothelioma patients and their loved ones.

These mesothelioma settlements and verdicts have helped families pay for medical bills, lost wages, everyday living expenses and more.

Find out more about some of his past mesothelioma trial verdicts:

  • $20 million: A Florida jury awarded Juan’s client compensatory damages after he was exposed to asbestos in joint compound while remodeling an apartment. The lawsuit was filed against Union Carbide, who tried to argue the victim didn’t have mesothelioma. Juan worked with multiple experts to confirm his client’s diagnosis in court.
  • $14.2 million: Juan represented a contractor who was exposed to asbestos in drywall joint compounds and textured ceiling sprays. He argued that Union Carbide failed to warn the victim about the presence of asbestos in these products, and the Florida Supreme Court ruled in his favor. The company was ordered to pay nearly half of the total damages.
  • $14 million: In another trial against Union Carbide, Juan represented the daughter of a man who passed away from mesothelioma. The case was retried three times, highlighting Juan’s unwavering commitment to his client. He was ultimately successful in his pursuit of justice on her behalf.
  • Nearly $13 million: Juan was able to hold Bechtel Corp. accountable after a utility worker got sick from removing asbestos-containing insulation at a power plant. He proved the company, which oversaw maintenance at the plant, had a responsibility to protect workers.
  • $9 million: After filing a mesothelioma wrongful death lawsuit against Northrop Grumman, Juan secured a significant verdict for the widow of a U.S. Army veteran. The company claimed samples of the victim’s lung tissue didn’t show significant asbestos exposure, but Juan secured test results from the Italian government that proved otherwise.
  • $3.6 million: A jury ruled in favor of a woman who was exposed to asbestos secondhand while working at Ford Motor Company. Juan discovered internal documents showing the company knew their products were dangerous, despite claiming otherwise in court.

Juan has tried 25 mesothelioma cases to verdict. He is dedicated to holding asbestos companies accountable for their negligence and ensuring that victims receive the justice and compensation they deserve.
