Attorney Geoff Sloniker brings 15 years of experience handling toxic exposure cases to his role at Simmons Hanly Conroy, where he helps families impacted by mesothelioma and other illnesses caused by hazardous substances.
Geoff works closely with his clients to ensure they feel comfortable and confident throughout the legal process. He is readily available to answer any questions and offers guidance throughout the case.
“I provide compassionate support to my clients and their families from the outset of the case, and I am also quick to aggressively defend them when necessary,” said Geoff.
At Simmons Hanly Conroy, Geoff takes and defends depositions, investigates client histories to determine how they were exposed to toxic substances like asbestos, and prepares cases for trial.
He has handled countless lawsuits filed in both state and federal courts throughout his career, often achieving success in the face of difficult defendants.
In one case, Geoff pursued discovery against a foreign corporation that refused to produce a witness, which resulted in a settlement before trial. In another, he was second-chair in an asbestos trial that resulted in a plaintiff’s verdict for a kidney cancer claim involving a contractor who worked at refineries.
Geoff has handled many cases under the Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA). This federal law is designed to provide compensation to maritime workers injured on the job or to their families in the event of a work-related death, often caused by toxic exposures.
Through his dedicated efforts, he has secured significant settlements for many clients, often allowing them to receive compensation without going to court. Geoff has also been involved in multiple LHWCA trials, which resulted in significant payouts to the widows of deceased workers.
Geoff’s skills and experience have been pivotal in securing justice for his clients. His ability to navigate complex legal matters while providing support to families in need is a testament to his abilities as an attorney.
“The best thing about working as an attorney is obtaining justice for injured clients and their families,” said Geoff. “I’ve met many wonderful people and helped them through very difficult, emotional situations.”
In 2003, Geoff graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in environmental toxicology. His interest in environmental policy inspired him to pursue a career in law.
He went on to attend Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, where he received his J.D. in 2009.
Before joining Simmons Hanly Conroy, Geoff spent 15 years at another law firm dedicated to helping workers and families impacted by asbestos exposure.
During this time, he played a key role in managing complex cases and gained extensive trial experience serving as both a first- and second-chair attorney.
Geoff is committed to securing justice for his clients and holding negligent asbestos companies accountable for the harm they’ve caused.
