March will be here before you know it, and that means it’s time for the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization’s (ADAO) 5th Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference. This year’s conference will be held in Manhattan Beach, CA., on Saturday, March 28, 2009; activities will continue throughout the weekend.
The conference provides education and outreach to families, employers, employees and scientists. ADAO strives to educate the public about the dangers of asbestos, ban its use and encourage research efforts to improve treatment options. Discussion will include facts on exposure, asbestos-related diseases and how to prevent them, and where to turn for help. This is a good opportunity to connect with others struggling with mesothelioma, as well as learn more about the disease and the fight to prevent it.
Linda Reinstein is the executive director and co-founder of the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization. Unfortunately, she knows intimately about asbestos exposure and the devastating affects it has on families; Linda lost her husband, Alan, to asbestos exposure in 2006.
We encourage you to learn more about the event and organization. Cost is $100 for survivors, caregivers, families and students. Cost for physicians and healthcare professionals is $250. Visit ADAO.org for more information.
