LaTanyta’s Story

LaTanyta Manuel’s husband, Andrew, was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma in 2002 after having been exposed to asbestos both as a child in New Orleans and throughout his life. After a series of surgeries and chemotherapy, Andrew lost his battle against mesothelioma in January of 2004. He left behind LaTanyta and their three children.

Andrew always encouraged his family to “never give up.” Today, LaTanyta honors his memory through her volunteer work for the Mesothelioma Applied Research and advocacy for victim’s rights.
